Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 June 2026
BankStmtConvert is built privacy-first. Your bank statement is processed entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to us. This policy explains exactly what we do and do not collect, and how cookies and advertising work on this site.
1. The core principle: local processing
When you convert a bank statement, the PDF is read and parsed locally in your browser using Mozilla's open-source PDF.js library. The file and the transactions extracted from it are never transmitted to, seen by, logged by, or stored on our servers as part of the conversion. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — the converter still works. No account is required to convert.
2. Information we collect
Because conversion is local, we collect no financial data from it. The only data we process is:
a. Contact form (only if you use it)
If you contact us, we store the name, email address, and message you submit, solely to respond to you. We do not use it for marketing.
b. "Save a copy on our server" (only if you opt in)
The converter offers an optional, clearly-labelled button to save a copy of your PDF on our server for your own backup. This is off by default. If you click it, that PDF is stored privately and is never shared. If you would like a stored copy deleted, email us.
c. Analytics & server data
Like most websites, our server records standard technical logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability, and we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous traffic (which pages are visited). This does not identify you personally and can be blocked with any tracker blocker.
3. Cookies & similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use:
- Essential/preference — e.g. remembering your language choice (stored in your browser's local storage).
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure aggregate usage.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads (see the next section).
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalized advertising as described below.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google, to display ads that keep the tool free.
- Google and third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Google may use the DoubleClick DART cookie and similar identifiers to serve interest-based ads.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use their own cookies.
You may opt out of personalized advertising:
- Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com
- Digital Advertising Alliance (US): aboutads.info · youradchoices.com
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EU): youronlinechoices.eu
For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's Partner Sites policy. Visitors in the EEA/UK are shown a consent message and can accept or decline personalized advertising.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of reputable providers, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdSense & Google Analytics — advertising and analytics (Google Privacy Policy).
- Hostinger — website hosting (server logs).
- cdnjs / Cloudflare — delivery of the open-source JavaScript libraries used by the converter.
6. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what we collect and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information — we do not sell your personal information. To exercise any right, email us and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.
Legal bases (GDPR): we process contact-form data on the basis of your consent/legitimate interest in replying to you; analytics and advertising on the basis of your consent (via the EEA consent message) or legitimate interest where permitted.
7. Data retention
Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. Optionally-saved PDFs are kept until you ask us to delete them. Server logs are rotated periodically. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings.
8. Children's privacy
BankStmtConvert is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes & contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Questions or requests? Email contact@bankstmtconvert.com or use the contact form.
